President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially closed the probe led by Jim Obazee into the operations of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Tinubu had appointed Obazee as a special investigator to look into the CBN and associated entities, with the appointment detailed in a letter dated July 28, 2023.
Expressing gratitude on Friday, Tinubu thanked Obazee, a former Chief Executive Officer of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRC), for his service. Tinubu commended Obazee’s dedication and expertise in handling the complexities of the investigation.
Following the completion of the assignment, including the submission of a detailed final report and the wrapping up of all related activities by March 31, 2024, the investigation is now officially closed.
Law enforcement and regulatory agencies are currently pursuing further action based on the findings.
