The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of Tasiu Al’amin-Roba, a Senior Special Assistant to the Cabinet Office, and one Abdulkadir Muhammad for suspected diversion of the state’s Palliatives.

According to Hussaini Gumel, the Commissioner of Police, the suspects were seized at a warehouse in Sharada, possessing over 200 empty bags and were allegedly re-bagging rice and maize at the location.

The Kano State Government previously reported the discovery of a warehouse in Sharada Industrial Estate where palliative food items were being diverted.

Governor Abba Yusuf, alongside government officials, inspected the warehouse housing the pilfered food supplies and even discovered drums of chemicals among them.

Expressing shock, Governor Yusuf pledged to penalize those involved in this fraudulent diversion.

He promptly instructed the Commissioner of Police to assume control of the warehouse and swiftly initiate an investigation to identify the perpetrators.

Investigations are underway to determine the extent of re-bagged food items and potential sales, as stated by Gumel in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria.
