NIGERIA, ABUJA – In a bid to strengthen harmony within the party, the Labour Party leadership has inaugurated a three-member Intervention and Truce Committee to foster a better relationship between the party and its members in the National Assembly.
The committee, chaired by Hon. Ben Etanabene, also includes Hon. Mathew Nworgu and Hon. Chinedu Obika.

Speaking during the inauguration at the Labour Party National Headquarters in Abuja on Monday, the National Chairman, Barrister Julius Abure, underscored the importance of the assignment, urging the committee to unify all National Assembly members under the party’s leadership.
“We have invited you and entrusted you with this very important assignment of bringing together all our members in the National Assembly, both in the Senate and House of Representatives, for the purpose of bridging the gaps and resolving all issues that may have existed,” Abure stated.

He emphasized the need for party unity, noting that all 40 Labour Party lawmakers should be aligned with the leadership.
“You are our ambassadors at the National Assembly, and we are proud of some of you and the values you have exhibited,” he said. “But we think there are still some gaps that need to be plugged, hence the urgency for this assignment.”
In addition, Abure assured the lawmakers that the party remains committed to achieving an enduring truce, particularly with a key stakeholder such as the NASS caucus.
Truth Live News gathered that the committee has been given a two-week timeline to complete its work and submit a report to the party leadership.
In response, the three committee members pledged their commitment to the party and assured the leadership of their dedication to the assignment.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, reaffirmed this stance, on social media, stating that the leadership will continue to take proactive steps to ensure a strong and united party.
He emphasized that the Labour Party remains focused on fostering cooperation between its members and sustaining its influence in the National Assembly.
