The Lagos state government has issued a demand to Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo, instructing her to pay a total of N18,640,092.00 as personal income tax within a period of seven days.
As stated by the Lagos government, Iyabo Ojo is required to settle a tax liability of N7,376,000.00 for the year 2022, along with an outstanding liability of N11,264,092 for the 2021 income year.
In response to the letter, Iyabo Ojo criticized the process through which the tax amount was determined. This news evoked a mixed response from the public, with some individuals mocking her for criticizing the state government while having unpaid taxes.
Others criticized the state government, suggesting that they were targeting her due to her support for Peter Obi in the previous election, and expressed hope that the government would extend its tax recovery efforts to all individuals.
