The final moments of an unidentified, old and apparently destitute old man, on the Geri Alimi Underpass, Ilorin, before benumbed passers by, appears to explain in mobid details how governance takes flight in Kwara, whenever it’s governor, Abdulrahaman Abdulrazak, is out of town, which happens very often.

Truthlive.net is in possession of photos, correspondence of a private care giving institution to save the dying old man but was stymied by relevant agencies like the Ministry of Social Development and the police, in the state capital, leading to what may well be an avoidable death and desecration of human remains in Geri Alimi Ilorin, as we write.

Kwara, like most states in the country lives and breath by the grace of the governor.

Agencies are hardly autonomous and independently empowered to operate when the governor is unavailable, like it happened in Ilorin where the governor, according to close sources, has been in the US for more than a week.

Today, three days after an old man in distress was seen on Geri Alimi, directly in the frontage of Geri Alimi Hospital, what is arguebly Northern Nigeria’s first private hospital, the corpse of the said unknown man lies decomposing in the public highway.

Insiders at the private hospital told the online newspaper that the case of the old man came to the notice of the hospital on Saturday.

The man, according to the hospital source, appeared to be “in a vegetative state”.

It was learnt that report was made to the ‘B’ Division of the Nigerian Police on the matter.

“It has to be so because if we decide to take the man in and treat without government back up, we could incure liabilities,” the a hospital source said.

But the police rebuffed entreaties to help the man, it was learnt, stating that such help is not within their mandate.

It was further learnt that the hospital reached out to the Ministry of Social Development, where it was told that the commissioner was unwell.

“Officer at the ministry said they can’t do anything because the minister is ill.

Worse still, the officer said they are not authorized to reach the commissioner.

By Wednesday, the body of the old man was already decomposing, after he died after three days of not being attended to.
