A 23-year-old man, Godspower Adigheti, has matcheted his girlfriend, Gift Oloku, to death for destroying his iPhone 11 PRO MAX mobile phone.
The victim was a student of Delta State Polytechnic, Ozoro, the police said.
The incident occurred on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at Ozoro, Isoko North Local Government Area of the state.
It was gathered that Mr Adigheti and Ms Oloku, had had an altercation, which resulted in a fight.
The deceased was a living-in lover to the suspect and even had a baby girl for him.
Trouble started when the lady went out and when she returned home, the boyfriend demanded to know where she was coming from.
A fight broke out in the process, and the deceased destroyed the screen of her boyfriend’s iPhone 11 Pro Max mobile phone.
Subsequently, the boyfriend attacked the deceased with a cutlass.
Spokesperson of the Delta police command, Bright Edafe, said the lady was taken to the hospital “where she was confirmed dead.”
She said on July 16, 2022, the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Ozoro Division received a distress call that one Godspower Adigheti, 23 years, of Oramudu quarters inflicted machete cuts on his 22-year-old girlfriend, one Gift Oloku.
The police spox disclosed that investigations revealed that a fight ensued between them over a disagreement, and “the suspect claimed that she damaged his iPhone 11 Pro Max phone while they were fighting, which angered him, and he used a machete on her”.
The suspect has been arrested and will be arraigned after the completion of investigation.
