Masari Eulogizes Varsity For Establishing Advance Qur’anic Schools, Assures Maximum Support

Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State, has showered praises on the Management of Federal University Dutsin-Ma under the stewardship of Prof. Armaya’u Hamisu Bichi, for thoughtful and timely establishment of the Centre for Qur’anic Studies and Research (CQSR), which he described as “a right step in a right direction”.

In a statement issued by the University’s Public Relations Officer Habibu Umar Aminu, governor Masari who was ably represented by his Special Adviser on Higher Education Dr. Muhammad Bashir Usman Ruwan Godiya, sing the praises of the university management while speaking at the opening session of the one-day sensitization workshop organised by the centre on Almajiri education

Masari called on the Muslims community to be steadfast and contribute to the development of Qur’anic Education known as Tsangaya system.

Masari said it is compulsory for all Muslims to learn, read and adhere to the teaching of holy book.

He assured that his administration is willing and ready to partner with FUDMA and other well-meaning individuals and organization to address the Almajiri challenges in our society and called on all stakeholders to ply their active roles towards that.

In his remark, the University Vice Chancellor Prof Armayau Hamisu Bichi who was represented by his Deputy (Academics), Dr. Aminu Ado said the main responsibilities of the Centre to ensure efficient learning and recitation of the holy Quran as well as provide certification to Qur’anc reciters to enable them acquire western education.

According to him, the Centre will run different programmes ranging from Certificates, proficiency in Qur’anic recitation and so forth and called on all to take advantage of the opportunity.

Earlier, in a welcome address the Director of the Centre, Dr.Jabir Musa expressed his appreciation to the University Management for supporting the Centre in discharging they duties and called on the participants in the occasion and the public to patronize the services of centre.

In his vote of thanks, the University Registrar Iliyasu R Falalu expressed satisfaction on the processes as adopted by bte centre to ensure people with Qur’anic background are given the opportunity acquire western education assuring of the University’s commitment towards the new drive.

Several papers were presented at the occasion during the technical session of the Seminar. In his presentation titled “University Qur’anic Based centres prospects and challenges a case study of Centre of Research for Qur’anic Studies, Yobe state University Damaturu” by Dr. Adam Muhammad Mustapha Jatkawy said the Centres are mandated to ensure efficient teaching, learning and recitation of the holy Quran saying that ‘’ such centres provide Curriculum that are suitable to various programmes as run in countries like Sudan and Morocco’’

In his paper ‘’ Tsangaya Jiya Yau, Qalu bale Hanyoyin warwaresu (Tsangaya yesterday, today, challenges and solutions), Gwani Yahuza Gwani Danzarga traced the origin of Tsangaya system far back during the reign of Second Calipha in islam Umar bin khattab( R.A) where he illustrated some of the ways of teaching and learning of Quran in that period till during Sheikh Usman bin fodio.

Gwani Yahuza said, as a way out to the prevailing challenges in the Qur’anic education in today’s society, parents and teachers must understand their duties and for authorities to establish Boards to take care of Qur’anic education and most importantly individual contributions are desirous to the overall development of the community.
