Former Chief Press Secretary to the Edo State Governor, Mr. John Mayaki, has finalized plans to host the 5th edition of “Mayaki’s Roundtable with Friends in the Media.” This event comes four years after the successful 4th edition.
The upcoming roundtable is themed “Edo 2024: Party Supremacy, Competence, and the Future of Edo State.” It is scheduled to take place on Friday, June 14, 2024, at the NUJ Press Centre in Benin City, Edo State.
Organized by JohnMayaki.com and supported by The Coalition for Good Governance and Economic Justice in Africa, the event aims to bring together media professionals, political analysts, and stakeholders to discuss the pressing issues facing Edo State as it prepares for the 2024 elections.
A statement from the organizers detailed the historical significance of previous editions. The 3rd edition, held in 2016, focused on “Continuity for Consolidation” as former Governor Adams Oshiomhole was concluding his second term in office.
The 4th edition, dubbed “Grubbing with Mayaki,” addressed “Issues in the Media and Society” and took place in 2020, coinciding with Nigeria’s 60th anniversary of independence.
This year’s roundtable promises to be a critical platform for dialogue on the intersection of party supremacy, governance competence, and the future trajectory of Edo State. Attendees can expect in-depth discussions and insights that will shape the political landscape of the state.
The event shows Mr. Mayaki’s continued commitment to fostering informed discourse and promoting good governance in Edo State and beyond.
