The Federal Ministry of Sports Development has lauded AfriKing Homes Ltd for the successful completion and handover of the Abuja National Stadium Training Pitch. This achievement comes under the Adopt-A-Pitch initiative, initiated by former Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Mr. Sunday Dare.

During the handover ceremony at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Honourable Minister of Sports Development Senator John Owan Enoh praised the rehabilitation of the training pitch as a significant accomplishment for Nigerian sports. He urged other private sector entities to join the initiative, expanding it into the Adopt-A-Facility-Initiative, aiming to include various sports federations.

In a statement made available to Truth Live News, Minister Enoh emphasized that this initiative aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Administration, classifying sports as a business rather than a mere recreation. He invited private sector collaboration, emphasizing the commitment to advancing sports development in Nigeria through this government policy.

Senator Owan Enoh stated, *”The Ministry of Sports Development, under my leadership, is committed to sustaining the Adopt-A-Facility Programme, ensuring an open window for all federations to thrive.” He acknowledged AfriKing Homes’ efforts, driven by passion and benevolence, commending the partnership for national interest.

Permanent Secretary Alhaji Ismaila Abubakar assured an enabling environment for corporate and private sector engagement to enhance sports development, especially in grassroots sports and infrastructure. Chairman of AfriKing Homes Ltd, *lKingsley James Awodi, affirmed their dedication to the project as part of their corporate social responsibility, vowing to maintain the facility for the next two years.

This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to transforming the sports sector, acknowledging the private sector’s crucial role in upgrading and maintaining sporting facilities across the country. The Federal Ministry of Sports Development anticipates a positive impact on job creation, poverty alleviation, and national unity.
