US – The Minnesota Supreme Court, on Wednesday, dismissed an attempt to exclude former President Donald Trump from the state’s 2024 primary ballot.
Following arguments last week, a group of voters had filed a petition, contending that Trump’s actions to challenge the 2020 election violated the 14th Amendment.
The court rejected the bid, stating no state statute prohibits a party from including an allegedly ineligible candidate in the primary.
Chief Justice Natalie Hudson clarified that the court could address the general election claim later if Trump secures the Republican nomination.
A parallel lawsuit in Colorado is also considering a 14th Amendment challenge, potentially leading to a Supreme Court review given the conservative majority.
Meanwhile, Trump faces a federal trial in March on charges related to overturning the 2020 election results.
