LAGOS – Felicia Udeji Reporting
Omowunmi, the widow of late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, has agreed to a DNA test to confirm the paternity of their son, Liam, under specific terms.
This agreement follows a court case initiated by Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, who has sought legal confirmation of his grandson’s paternity.
The Magistrate’s Court in Ikorodu, Lagos State, had previously directed both parties to pursue alternative dispute resolution after initial attempts to serve Wunmi with legal documents reportedly failed.
Negotiations proved unsuccessful, but a breakthrough was recently achieved outside the courtroom, where both parties settled on terms to proceed with the DNA test.
Truth Live News learnt that the DNA test will be conducted at two recognized, accredited medical facilities, either within Lagos or at a mutually agreed location outside the state.
All costs for the test, including sample collection and administrative fees, will be borne by Mohbad’s father.
PUNCH reports that Omowunmi’s consent comes with a requirement for full transparency, as court-appointed officers will oversee the process to ensure accuracy and reliability.
This development adds another layer to the complex legal proceedings following Mohbad’s passing at 27, which remains under investigation by Lagos authorities.
His death has drawn national attention, stirring controversy and calls for justice as his family seeks clarity on both his legacy and the future of his only son.
In the midst of ongoing legal battles and demands for justice, international observers have expressed concerns over the inquest into Mohbad’s death, highlighting procedural delays and allegations of compromised proceedings.
As legal proceedings continue, the DNA test agreement marks a pivotal step in untangling one element of Mohbad’s legacy.
