Former senator representing Kaduna central, Shehu Sani and Bashir Ahmad, special assistant on Digital communication to President Muhammadu Buhari, are trading words on Twitter over the redesigned naira notes – N200, N500 and N1000.
Sen. Sani, wrote a tweet where he mocked the new naira notes, saying that if it were for just colour change, the Federal Government and Central Bank of Nigeria CBN, would have simply engaged Snapchat, a mobile app known for changing and upgrading features of any picture it is used for.
“If it’s Naira colour, the CBN should have just engage Snapchat.”
Responding to the tweet, Bashir Ahmad kvetched Sen. Sani’s post and admonished him for speaking about the redesign even after he has been in office and knows the implications of currency change. He also made a comparison of the $100 bills, putting the old side by side with the new.
“As a former Dist. Senator, one may expect you to know that redesigning banknotes is not only about designing; it helps to achieve security improvement of the banknotes, mitigating counterfeiting and controlling currency in circulation, among others.”
Giving a sarky reply to Ahmad’s response to his tweet, Sen. Sani said that Ahmad would have done tie and dye experts in Kano a great favour by helping them get the job of coloring the new naira notes.
“My Brother Honourable Bashir, you should have help our traditional tie and dye experts in Kano get this colouring job.”
The tweets have since gathered hilarious comments by tweeps who think Sen. Sani is savage.
