Suspended Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has voiced out and expressed pain over her present challenges as a woman in the Nigerian political space, saying she just wanted a place she could work but her moves seem being frustrated but she can’t give up.
Truth Live News Media quoted her emotional and tearful interview she had with the BBC where she voiced her deep frustration over what she tagged as a continued battle against systemic oppression, particularly as a woman in Nigerian politics.
Akpoti-Uduaghan, who was recently suspended for six months by the Senate over alleged gross misconduct, suggested that her removal was politically motivated and linked to her refusal to yield to sexual harassment.
“I just wanted a place where I will work,” she said, her voice breaking with emotion.
She further decried the unending struggles she has faced, particularly as a woman in politics.
“I thought the worst was over at the elections, but I guess for a woman, it is never really over, right?” she said, hinting at the gender-based obstacles she continued to encounter.
