Nationwide Protest: Lagos Transporters Won’t Participate Says MC Oluomo, Gives Reasons

The Chairman, Lagos State Parks and Garages, LASPG, Musiliu Akinsanya, also known as MC Oluomo has said that transporters in the state will not participate in the ongoing protest led by the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC).

According to him, the move is based on Governor Bababjide Sanwo-Olu order for a reduction in fares of commercial bus drivers beginning from Wednesday, thus there’s no need to protest.

He explained that tickets given to drivers at parks for N800 will now be sold for N600, and that all bookings would have 25 per cent reduction.

Passengers, would now pay 300 for routes where transport fare is N500 while those paying N200 for fare will now pay N150.

Mc Oluomo added that commercial motorcycles (Okada riders) and tricycles (Keke Marwa) operators will have 25 per cent reduction in the tickets bought from the union.

However, he warned the task force team that would monitor the implementation of the directives.

Furthermore, various parks and garages’ executives to ensure compliance, stating that sanction would be meted on defaulters.

“The task force will be led by all members of state executives, parks’ chairmen and selected union leaders,” he said.

Oluomo said that the agency would do all it could not to inconvenience the masses, hence the timely intervention.
