NIGERIA, ABUJA – The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, announced on Tuesday that Nigeria and Belgium are set to enhance economic cooperation to improve food security.
This was disclosed in a statement released in Abuja by the Director of Information and Public Relations at the Ministry of Finance, Mr. Mohammed Manga.
According to the statement, Edun met with the Belgian Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Pieter Leenknegt, to discuss potential collaboration in agriculture and food security.
During the meeting, Edun highlighted Nigeria’s improving economic conditions, including declining inflation, price stability, and increased savings in the federation account.
He also emphasized the government’s continued support for farmers through sustainable policies aimed at boosting agricultural productivity.

The minister reiterated President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to implementing key macroeconomic reforms.
NAN, reports that Leenknegt, in response, expressed Belgium’s interest in deepening economic relations with Nigeria for mutual benefit.
“This meeting marks an important step in strengthening economic ties between Nigeria and Belgium. Both countries will continue to explore opportunities for cooperation,” Manga quoted Leenknegt as saying.
