Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya has said training and retraining of officers will continue to be a top priority for the Nigerian Army due to the dynamism and complexity of its operational environment.
He stated this at the opening ceremony of the Commanding Officers training ongoing at the Headquarters 8th Division Nigeria Army in Sokoto.
Nigeria is facing issues of security threats of different dimensions across its six geopolitical regions for over a decade now.
The General Officer Commanding the 8th Division said the workshop will refocus the perspective of commanding officers on their primary roles as it concerns equipment maintenance and enhancing efficiency while carrying out their tasks in different operating environments.
Finally, after participating in a number of military operations with other sister security agencies, the country may be nearing the end of its journey.
Clearances, ambushes, raids, picketing, cordon, and search operations, as well as artillery bombardments and aggressive patrols, have all been part of these operations.
The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar and the Governor of Sokoto state, Aminu Tambuwaal lauded the army’s efforts in combating security threats, as well as its collaboration with other sister security agencies in restoring normalcy in the country.
According to the Chief of Army Staff, the army will remain steadfast and continue to train harder in order to achieve the desired professional competence.
