Nigerian Military Crush Terrorism, Rescues 182 Hostages

In a week marked by triumph, the Nigerian military has demonstrated its unwavering commitment to national security, successfully rescuing 182 hostages and eliminating 50 terrorists in a series of coordinated operations.

Major-General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, highlighted the strategic effectiveness of targeted actions across multiple regions.

Operation Hadin Kai in the North East neutralized 33 terrorists, apprehended 13, and rescued 132 hostages. In the North Central, Operation Safe Haven eliminated 20 terrorists, arrested 34, and rescued 10 hostages. Operation Whirl Stroke achieved success by neutralizing terrorists, arresting nine, and rescuing eight hostages.

Operation Hadarin Daji in the North West recorded the elimination of 20 terrorists, the arrest of 48, and the rescue of 56 hostages.

The air component played a crucial role, conducting air interdiction on the enclave of terrorist leader ‘Damina’ in Zamfara. Operation Whirl Punch neutralized four terrorists, arrested eight, rescued nine hostages, and recovered arms along with N75 million.

In the Niger Delta, Operation Delta Safe took decisive action, demolishing 242 dugout pits, 49 boats, 78 storage tanks, and 49 illegal refining sites. The troops also recovered substantial amounts of stolen crude oil and other illegal products.

Major-General Buba emphasized the armed forces’ dedication to maintaining pressure on terrorists and collaborators, urging surrender and warning of heavy casualties for those who resist. The success of similar actions in the North East served as a powerful precedent.

Reactions from netizens suggest that the achievement is credited to the president’s appointment of competent individuals from all six geopolitical zones. This week’s operations showed the determination of Nigerian troops in combating terrorism and criminal activities, marking a significant stride in ensuring the nation’s safety and security.
