Pastor Chidiebere Okoroafor, the General Overseer of Alter of Solution and Healing Assembly in Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State, has been sentenced to death by a Rivers State High Court in Port Harcourt.
The court found him guilty of murdering three individuals, including his choir mistress, whom he had impregnated.
In the murder trial, Judge S. Benson, presiding over the case, delivered the judgment yesterday.
He stated that the evidence and Pastor Okoroafor’s confession established that he killed his church’s choir mistress after impregnating her.
Additionally, he was found responsible for the deaths of her friend, Chigozie Ezenwa, and her daughter, Christabel Ezenwa, who accompanied her in an attempt to persuade him.
Justice Benson concluded that the prosecution successfully proved the murder charges against Pastor Okoroafor and ordered his execution either by hanging or lethal injection, the latter being a faster method of execution.
On December 17, 2018, the Rivers State Police Command arrested Okoroafor following a report by the late Chigozie Ezenwa’s husband, who raised an alarm regarding the killing of the three victims on December 11, 2018, in separate locations within a community in Oyigbo.
