The Northern Majority Alliance (NOMAL) has dismissed threats from certain political elites who claim the North will not support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 elections. NOMAL asserts that the administration’s policies and achievements over the past two years have strengthened Tinubu’s support in the North. They argue that allegations of non-performance and marginalization are unfounded and intended to create division.

Truth Live News gathered from a communiqué released after a meeting with representatives from all 19 Northern states and NOMAL’s Coordinator, Ibrahim Bunu, where he emphasized that initial concerns over the Muslim-Muslim ticket have diminished due to the administration’s performance. The group reports overwhelming support for Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, citing his achievements and inclusive governance.

NOMAL also addressed attempts to sow discord through rumors of reshuffling key positions, such as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF). They reaffirmed their focus on representing the North’s collective interests and expressed openness to future ticket combinations, including Christian-Christian pairings, if they serve Nigeria’s best interests.

The group called for deliberate policies to empower marginalized communities, create new states, and address longstanding inequities. They urged Northern governors to amplify their people’s voices in support of Tinubu’s re-election and called on the presidency to expedite the establishment of the North Central Development Commission to address developmental imbalances across Northern Nigeria.

This dismissal comes amid reports of prominent politicians, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, and former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, allegedly plotting to undermine President Tinubu’s administration.

Critics argue that these political elites are primarily motivated by personal ambitions and a desire to regain power for their own benefit. Observers suggest that figures like Atiku, El-Rufai, Amaechi, and others are seeking their turn in power to exploit national resources, rather than acting in the nation’s best interest.

In response, groups like NOMAL and the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) have condemned these alleged plots, emphasizing that the North remains supportive of President Tinubu’s leadership and re-election bid.

As the political landscape evolves, it remains to be seen how these dynamics will influence the 2027 elections and the future of Nigeria’s leadership.
