NSCDC Arrest Man With Counterfeit Currency

Operatives of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC) in Kazaure, jigawa state has arrested one Suleman Habu ‘m’ aged 37 of Bachirawa Town, Kano State on alleged case of Cheating and Counterfeiting.

This is contrary to Sections 329 and 369 punishable under sections 322 and 329 of the Penal Code Law CAP P3 VOL III law of Jigawa State.

The spokesman of Jigawa Command of the NSCDC, , CSC Adamu Shehu disclosed this at a press briefing at the Command’s Headquarters in Dutse.

He said the suspect was arrested on Thursday, 12th day of January, 2023 upon complaints lodged by one Abdul’aziz Shehu and Saratu Mohd at Kazaure Divisional office that he sold (exchanged) them fake Nigerien Currency (CFA Franc) amounting to N230,000.

He said It was while they took the currency to be exchanged their attention was drawn that the whole money was fake money.

According to Shehu, upon interrogations, the suspect confessed that he bought the money from one woman while on transit to Kazaure from Kano whom he said was in urgent need of money but has only foreign currency (Niger CFA), and offered to exchange it at a discounted rate.

At the time of his arrest, he was in possession of Twenty Six (26) pieces of 1000 notes of Niger CFA equivalent to N338,000.

He added that the suspect will soon be handed over to the police on completion of investigations for further interrogations, and later be handed over to court for prosecution if found guilty of offence.
