AGBOR, DELTA STATE – A student nurse at Delta State College of Nursing Sciences, Agbor, is under investigation for allegedly posting an unauthorized video on social media during an official event attended by Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.

The student, identified as Osato Edobor, was accused of recording, singing, and posting an unofficial response to a song during the First Lady’s arrival at the Dome Event Center, Asaba, on March 25.

The event was part of the Renewed Hope Initiative Health Programme, where 10,000 professional kits were distributed to midwives in the South-South geopolitical zone.

In an official query dated March 27, the college’s provost, Mrs. Evbodaghe Rita Ogonne, stated that Edobor’s actions constituted a “malicious act” and violated the student handbook.

“This is a punishable offence under standardized disciplinary action for some offences listed in the handbook,” the query read.

Truth Live News reports that the school has demanded a written explanation from Edobor within 24 hours, warning that disciplinary measures may follow.

The provost’s statement emphasized the importance of maintaining professionalism, particularly during high-profile events.

Attempts to reach Edobor for comments were unsuccessful. However, sources within the college say the administration is taking the matter seriously to uphold ethical standards among students.

The Delta State College of Nursing Sciences has not yet disclosed the specific disciplinary actions Edobor might face if found guilty.

However, the incident has sparked discussions on the regulation of students’ social media activities in professional settings.
