The Oba of Benin, Ewuare II has doled foodstuffs to the dukes (Enigie) of the kingdom with the view of cushioning the impact of the financial crunch on them.
According to the Oba Chief Press Secretary, Iguobaro Osaigbovo, he said this followed the donation of foodstuffs to the Dukes by Oba Ewuare II, in the wake of the subdued uprising among the Enigie’s fold.
Truth Live News reports that His Royal Majesty, Ewuare II, the Oba Benin, has earned praises for his gesture towards Enigie ( Dukes) in Benin Kingdom.
In his appreciation on behalf of the group, the Enogie of Iguogie in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State, HRH. Festus Osagiede, commended Oba for the gesture he extended to them and paid tributes to the Benin throne.
Osagiede said, “We owe the Oba our allegiance and we are not going anywhere. Oba made us Dukes and we are here to appreciate him for the privilege and honour”.
He was joined by other Dukes who also benefitted from the same gesture, sang oration onto Oba Ewuare II and prayed for a peaceful reign on the throne of his forebears.
In the mean time, some Dukes who claimed to have been misled in the conspiratorial scrawl against the Benin throne, have began to retrace their steps.
During their visit to Oba Palace in Benin City, the Dukes pledged their loyalty to the Oba Ewuare II, and pleaded with him to forgive them their trespasses against the Palace.
