In a stern declaration, Oba Ewuare II, the Oba of Benin has affirmed that the next governor of Edo State must uphold the sanctity of the traditional institution.
He warned that those who undermine the authority of this sacred seat would incur the wrath of both God and their ancestors.
The revered first-class monarch conveyed this message during a recent meeting with two governorship aspirants, Kenneth Imansuangbon of the Labour Party (LP) and Prof. Oserheimen Osunbor of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The candidates, Truth Live News reports, visited the royal palace to formally announce their intentions to vie in the gubernatorial elections scheduled for September 21, 2024, in the Southsouth state.
The Oba of Benin’s firm statement reinforces the importance of respecting tradition and the implications of disregarding the revered seat of authority in Edo State.
