In an inspiring move to promote literacy and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Edo State, Governor Godwin Obaseki has inaugurated the second edition of the Edo International Book and Arts Festival at the Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub in the state capital. The festival, themed “Every Child, a Reading Champion,” will run from June 5 to June 8, 2024.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Obaseki highlighted the festival’s focus on the creative expression of Edo children. “The book and arts festival is about Edo children. Throughout our history, we have expressed ourselves creatively through our arts and poetry”.
The Governor emphasized the progress made in the state’s education system over the past seven and a half years, aiming to enhance literacy, reading, and knowledge among children. “The festival will showcase what we have achieved in our education system in enhancing the literacy, reading, and knowledge capacities of our children,” he stated.
The festival promises a vibrant celebration of Edo’s literary and artistic accomplishments, reflecting the administration’s commitment to fostering a culture of reading and creative expression among the youth.
