Cross River State Deputy Governor, Rt Hon. Peter Odey is in New York for the 19th session of the United Nations Forum on Forests (UNFF19).
The session which began on the 6th of May at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, will end on 10th of May, 2024.
Reports from the Chief Press Secretary Fred Abua Esq, and made available to Truth Live News said Hon. Odey Represented Governor Bassey Edet Otu, in the forum’s session.
Abua in a WhatsApp post also said that the forum’s sessions highlighted implementation of the United Nations Strategic Plan for Forests (UNSPF).
Also, he said that the discussions at the session focused on enhancing forest-based economic, social, and environmental benefits.
The UNFF19 session further brainstormed an increasing area of protected forests, and proposing ways to advance sustainable forest management.
Nevertheless, the Chairman of the Cross River State Forestry Commission, Rt Hon. George O’ben-Etchi participated in the forum’s session.
Other participants include invited heads of states, private sectors and stakeholders.
