The Deputy Governor of Cross River State, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, had recently paid a visit on his Akwa Ibom State counterpart, Sen. (Dr) Akon Eyakenyi.
The visit which was aimed at fostering the unity and peace that has existed between the two neighboring states over the years, took place in Uyo.
The media unit of the deputy governor of the Akwa Ibom State reported that while Dr Eyakenyi, welcoming Rt. Hon. Peter Odey who was accompanied on the visit by the Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem, expressed the determination of her state to mitigate potential challenges that could affect the strong historical relationship between the two States.
At the meeting, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem, was reported to have reiterated the commitment of Cross River State to strengthen the partnership between the states.
He highlighted the deep-rooted ties that have existed for generations between the two sisters states saying they visit to discuss possible ways to mitigate likely challenges that face the states.
Truth Live News learned that those present at the meeting were the Deputy Chief Whip of the Akwa Ibom House of Assembly, Hon. Samson Idiong and other serving and former members of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, as well as other notable members of the State Executive Council.
