Dr Ngozi Okonjo – Iweala, the General director of the World Trade Organization (WTO), has advised the Abia State Governor-elect, Dr Alex Otti to run a financial transparent and exemplary good governance in the State.
The former minister of finance, disclosed this in her speech, On Friday, through Zoom at the inauguration of a 100-member transition Committee, set-up by Otti.
She called on urgent attention and investment in the health sector, According to her 90% of pharmaceutical products are imported into the country, so it is important to attract pharmaceutical companies to the state.
“Healthcare must be given urgent attention and investment, in view of the fact that 90 per cent of pharmaceutical products are imported into the country, so it is important to attract pharmaceutical companies to Abia State.
“There must be transparency in Abia’s finances. Abia State must set an example for good governance and financial transparency.”
She also urged the Governor-elect to Use a renewable energy in Abia State, adding that renewable energy can create unlimited access to electricity in the State.
She further recommend that the incoming administration should expand the internal generated revenue in the state and be less dependent on the Federal Government.
