Once again, Edo Labour Party Candidate, Olumide Akpata has been caught pants down lying through his teeth over well known facts in the public domain.
While speaking at a gathering, Akpata, in an obvious reference to Dr. Asue Ighodalo, alleged that there was no major distributor of Nigerian Breweries products in Edo State despite his having been Chairman of Nigerian Breweries.
It is unfortunate that instead of telling Edo people what he has to offer by way of policies and programmes, Olumide Akpata has decided to make Asue the subject of his discussion and interactions with the electorate in a desperate bid to score cheap political points and curry the sympathy of the electorate.
But it is no surprise really. A key character trait of people who lack substance is that they often focus on talking about others instead of sharing valuable ideas and plans.
Contrary to Akpata’s rather asinine fabrications and utter falsehood, facts have surfaced that clearly show Akpata was lying blatantly. The biggest Distributor for Nigerian Breweries is Chrisemua ltd owned by an Edo Woman and their business place is well known at Siloko road in Benin City.
While we understand it’s political season and there’s a tendency for people to get desperate in search of elusive votes but it’s shocking how low Olumide Akpata has sunk into petty lies and other shenanigans in the quest for the votes of Edo people.
As a Lawyer, Olumide Akpata is ethically obligated to stand for the truth. While I understand his desperation in the current election cycle, it is imperative for a lawyer of his standing to adhere to the legal practitioner’s code of conduct which includes a duty of honesty and integrity, both in and out of court.
Even if Olumide Akpata wants to throw away all professional expectations and moral scruple and lie to get votes, he should at least, be professional at it and not tell petty lies that can easily be busted by the public.
This is not the first time Akpata is being exposed as a liar in the public domain. From the start of campaigns, he has been binging on lies. Only recently, the whole world watched with dismay as his false claim to being a Benin Prince (Son of the Palace) was punctured by His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo Oba Ewuare II.
What an embarrassment!!!
Olumide Akpata is basically living a lie. It is still a source of bewilderment to many that he has rechristened himself as Olumide “OSAIGBOVO” Akpata while his past history, academic records and even documents in INEC clearly shows that he is “Olumide Anthony Akpata”
Why is Akpata building his campaign on lies?
Why is he so dishonest to come clean about himself? Why is he hiding the fact that incumbent Governor Obaseki is his beloved cousin?
Why is he desperately lying to himself that he can use lies and falsehood to deceive an enlightened and sophisticated Edo Electorate who have genuinely resolved that power should shift to a more competent candidate from Edo Central?
There is obviously no end to the lies he is willing to fabricate just to avoid inevitable defeat on September 21st.
Perhaps like Pinnochio, it will take his nose getting longer with each lie for Olumide Akpata to stop telling lies.
