Ondo 2024 Decides: PDP Gubernatorial Primaries Underway in Akure, as Delegates Cast Votes

In a pivotal moment for the Ondo Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), gubernatorial primaries are currently underway today in Akure, Ondo State, as the party gears up for the November 16 governorship election. Seven aspirants are vying for the party’s ticket, with 627 delegates set to decide the fate of the contenders.

Among the aspirants are notable figures such as former deputy governor Agboola Ajayi, former Secretary General of the pan-Yoruba socio-political association Chief Olusola Ebiseni, former member of the House of Representatives Kolade Akinjo, former Commissioner for Information John Mafo, Adeolu Akinwumi, Bamidele Akingboye, and Bosun Arebuwa.

Preparations for today’s primary have been meticulously organized by the Ondo PDP, with the event to be overseen by a seven-man committee led by Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo.

According to the party’s Publicity Secretary, Mr Kennedy Peretei, the primary will take place at the International Culture and Events Centre in Akure, with accreditation of delegates commencing at 10 am. He emphasized that only delegates and essential personnel should be present at the venue.

The primary, an indirect election, will see delegates from all 18 Local Government Areas of the State cast their votes to select the party’s flagbearer for the upcoming governorship election.
