The Federal Capital Territory High Court received testimony from Kazeem Yusuf, an EFCC employee, alleging the misappropriation of N4.6 billion for organizing prayers against insecurity.

Truth Live News gathered that the trial involves former minister Bashir Yuguda, former governor Attahiru Bafarawa, his son Sagir, Sambo Dasuki, and Dalhatu Investment Limited. The charges include misappropriation, breach of trust, and receiving stolen property. In 2016, Dasuki sought release from prosecution for misusing funds earmarked for firearms.

Yusuf revealed that Dalhatu Investment Limited received N4.6 billion without proper documentation, claiming it was for prayers amid prevalent insecurity.

The company’s representative, Sagir, detailed the expenditure, naming beneficiaries like former senator Abdallah Wali and Muazu Madawaki. Wali stated the funds were for his 2015 Sokoto governorship campaign, while Madawaki used it for Hajj travel expenses.

Other beneficiaries included INEC, Yahaya Dada, Ibrahim Maigoma, and Sani Kabir. Development Strategies International Limited, controlled by Wali’s relatives, received funds. The money intended for security equipment was used to buy cars and given to PDP local government chairmen. During the investigation, 14 Peugeot 206 cars were located.

Amanze Obi received N15.3 million for Bafarawa’s 2015 presidential campaign promotion. Additionally, N1 billion was sent to a Bureau de Change for conversion to US dollars, and £123,000 went to a UK bank to pay off Bafarawa’s mortgage.

All defendants provided statements at the EFCC headquarters, but Sagir’s attorney objected to the admissibility of his client’s comments, citing inducement and intimidation. The court granted a trial within a trial to determine the voluntary nature of Sagir’s remarks, postponing the trial until February 14.
