One of the pioneer members of the Edo State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and a former Speaker of the State Assembly, Rt. Hon Barr. Sir Friday Obomhenzele Itulah has described the much publicised acceptance of the National Vice Chairman of the Party South-South, Chief Dan Osi Orbih, as good omen which would definitely add value to the quest of delivering the party’s gubernatorial candidate, Dr Asuelimen Ighodalo, in the coming September 21 election.
The former Federal lawmaker who represented Esan Northeast/Esan Southeast constituency in the lower chamber expressed his joy over the news and pledged to work with him to deliver the party’s candidate.
The legal practitioner spoke with Truth Live News in a telephone interview on Wednesday.
In his words: “I heard about it also though I’ve not spoken to him since the news came out, but I must confess that I’m very excited about it and with this I can we are ready to go”.
He said: “Dan Orbih is very senior member of the party who has gone through thick and thin with the party. I’m confident that he won’t be allowing himself to be used to destroy the party he helped to build.
“You see, politics is an exciting game to play. Those who truly in the game know that there’s no permanent enemies and there are no permanent friends, the only permanent thing in it is interest and since our interests are aligning for the common goal of retaining power in the party, why can’t we work together?
“He has his shortcomings just like everyone of us do, but what is paramount to us all is the party’s sustainability and retaining power in the state. ”
Chief Dan Orbih who was before now not happy with party eggheads in Edo state was said to have accepted his appointment into the campaign council for the 21st September, 2024 governorship election where their candidate, Dr Asue Ighodalo is rated by pundits as the man to beat in the race.
Itulah in conclusion advised that other members of Dan Orbih’s should also embrace peace and work with the party to ensure Asue Ighodalo wins the election.
