In a show of camaraderie and commendation, Chief Dan Orbih, the South-South Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, hailing him as an exemplar of leadership.

Orbih’s praise was conveyed during a recent visit to Government House, Asaba, where he led the South-South zonal working committee of the party.

The purpose of the visit was to officially celebrate Governor Oborevwori’s electoral victory and its subsequent confirmation by the election petitions tribunal.

Chief Orbih didn’t hold back in his appreciation, stating that Oborevwori embodies loyalty and commitment to the party, underlining his impressive achievements during his short tenure as governor.

As the former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Oborevwori’s wealth of experience has set the stage for a harmonious relationship between the executive and legislative branches.

Orbih also pointed to Oborevwori’s commitment to infrastructure development, particularly in repairing federal roads within the state. He urged other state governments to take a leaf out of the Delta governor’s book and address the deplorable state of federal roads in the South-South region.

The South-South PDP Chairman reiterated the party’s strength in the region, citing the stellar performance of Governor Douye Diri in Bayelsa as a sign of their prospects in the upcoming governorship election. He expressed confidence that Delta’s citizens would greatly benefit from Oborevwori’s M.O.R.E Agenda based on his early actions as governor.

In response, Governor Oborevwori expressed his gratitude for the party’s support and affirmed his dedication to providing exemplary leadership for the people of Delta. He also praised Chief Orbih’s unwavering support for Governor Diri’s re-election in Bayelsa and highlighted the impressive projects undertaken by the Bayelsa leader.

Governor Oborevwori reflected on his administration’s accomplishments in a short time, promising better days ahead for Delta’s infrastructural development.

He emphasized the commitment to complete ongoing projects and initiate new ones, including a significant contract agreement with Julius Berger worth approximately N78 billion.

The governor also addressed the dire state of federal roads, particularly the Sapele/Amukpe/Agbor Road, expressing his commitment to providing palliative relief.

He highlighted plans for the Ughelli-Asaba Road’s dualization, and the commitment to youth engagement, promoting a peaceful atmosphere in the state.

Oborevwori’s journey from the previous Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly to a victorious governorship candidate showcased his political prowess, overcoming a robust APC opposition and the “obedient” movement of the Labour Party.

His accomplishments and support from the PDP suggest a promising future for Delta State.
