Owo Church Massacre: Identities Of Five Arrested Suspects Revealed

The identities of five suspected who were arrested in connection to the attack on St Francis Catholic church Owo, Ondo State, have been revealed.

 

On June 5, 2022, no fewer that 40persons were brutally murdered while others were left with varying degrees of injuries, when gun men attacked them as they worshipped in the Catholic church in Owo.

 

The Chief of Defense Staff CDS, General Lucky Irabor, had earlier on Tuesday revealed the names of five suspects as Auwal Ishaq Onimisi, Idris Abdulmalik Omeiza, Idris Ojo, Momoh Ojo Abubakar and Aliyu Yusuf Itokpa.

 

General Irabor spoke in Abuja that the master minders and his group have also attacked police stations in Kogi.

 

“Omeiza is one of the master minders of the 5th June attack on the Catholic church in Owo as well as the attack on a police station in Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State that led to the killing of a policeman as well as weapons carted away.”

 

The CDS further added that the military and other security operatives arrested Omeiza during an operation on August 1, 2022 at Eka Okehi, in Kogi state.

Idris Ojo, one of the identified suspects, was arrested on August 7 in Ayetoro in Ondo state.

“Idris Ojo was not done with his previous activities but was planning other deadly attacks along with his cronies before he was arrested”, General Irabor added.
