As the 9th term of the Oyo State House of Assembly comes to an end, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has officially expressed his support for the re-election of the current Speaker, Adebo Ogundoyin, to serve as Speaker in the forthcoming 10th Assembly.
Makinde who said although he is not a member of the Assembly, recommended Ogundoyin for the position of Speaker in the upcoming 10th Assembly based on his performance in the 9th Assembly.
He said the Eruwa-born member had done well enough to merit a second term as Speaker, just as the people of the state had given him a second term as governor.
He spoke while commissioning an electrification project facilitated by Mogaji Dotun Sanusi for the people of Idi-Obi, Jigan, Kure, Olorunda Ogunsola and environs.
The governor, in response to an earlier comment made by a former President of the Central Council for Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), said; When Baba Oyero spoke earlier, he thanked Senator Sunmonu and the current speaker, Adebo Ogundoyin. Well, I am not a member of the House of Assembly, but I want to join him and greet the incoming Speaker, Adebo Ogundoyin again.
“I know that I and member of the Assembly work hand in hand because we put the interest of our state first and putting the interest of our state first means we must have stability in government.
“Anybody who does well, just like the people of the state appreciated us and gave us another opportunity for a second term, anybody who does well, we must give such an individual another opportunity to continue the good works.”
