The Oyo State chapter of the National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS) declared their support for Oyo State Governor ‘Seyi Makinde’s re-election bid on Monday.
Students from every tertiary institution in Oyo state gathered at the International Conference Centre UI to commemorate the 2022 International Students’ Day, themed “Change Makers.”
Speaking at the event, the NANS Chairman stated that students in Oyo state will deliver the Omituntun 2.0 mandate because the governor has done well in the state as well as in the students constituency.
While addressing the throngs of students, Governor Engr. Seyi Makinde stated that his administration would continue to collaborate with student bodies in the state while also respecting their rights as students by providing them with an avenue and window to become change makers.
According to the governor, the administration places a high value on students’ well-being and the availability of a conducive environment for their academic efforts, and thus will continue to deliver on its promises to ensure that students have no reason to protest, and even if that happens, he will continue to respect their right to peaceful assembly.
Makinde, on the other hand, urged students to use their Permanent Voter Cards wisely in the upcoming 2023 general elections, saying that the students would undoubtedly decide their (politicians’) fate.
Truth Live News correspondent who was present at the occasion reports that students enthusiastically welcomed the governor with cheers and happy faces, and they continued to chant his name throughout, assuring him of his re-election bid.
