In a stunning reversal, Revered Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, has issued a heartfelt apology for his previous assertion that Christians who don’t pay tithe might not make it to heaven.
Adeboye’s bold admission, “I was wrong,” has sent shockwaves through the Christian community, highlighting the importance of humility and accountability in leadership.
Addressing a youth congregation at the ongoing RCCG Youth Convention, Adeboye acknowledged that his earlier statement was not supported by biblical teachings. Instead, he emphasized that peaceful and holy living are the prerequisites for entering heaven, citing Hebrews 12:14.
“I apologize for saying ‘If you don’t pay tithe, you might not make it to heaven.’ I’m sorry, that’s wrong, and it’s not in the Bible,” Adeboye confessed.
This remarkable apology serves as a powerful reminder that even revered leaders can err. Adeboye’s willingness to correct his mistake demonstrates a commitment to truth and integrity, inspiring others to follow suit.
“I’m a scientist, and I know that even established facts can be challenged and refined,” Adeboye explained, illustrating his point with the example of light traveling in waves, not just straight lines.
Adeboye also shared a compelling story of a businessman who pledged 90% of his income to God, achieving remarkable success. This anecdote challenged Adeboye’s own perspective on tithing, prompting him to increase his own giving beyond the traditional 10%.
“From that day onward, I’ve been increasing my own steadily. I’ve not reached 90% yet, but I’m far from 10%,” Adeboye revealed.
This extraordinary apology and lesson in humility have sparked widespread admiration for Pastor Adeboye’s courage and commitment to spiritual growth.
