Peter Obi Support Network (POSN) has discribed as hypocritical, recent meeting by presidential candidate of the All-Progressives Congress Bola Ahmed Tinubu with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), who currently on protracted strike, asking the candidate to prevail on President Mohammadu Buhari to pay the academics from money the party budgeted for elections next year.

POSN in a statement signed by Mr Adegbite Adekunle its Deputy Director of Communications, said such talks won’t achieve any end.

The support group said Asiwaju Bola Tinubu should be holding meetings with President Muhamamdu Buhari to end the lecturer’s strike and not with ASUU.

“Nigerian universities have been on lockdown for more than two years since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Nigerians are afraid that their students will continue the stay-at-home pandemic unless the ruling party is kicked out of government”, POSN said.

The group further said that it viewed the development as a confirmation that the ASUU strike may have been deliberately designed to create a good campaign platform for its controversy ridden presidential candidate, Tinubu.

“Asiwaju Bola Tinubu should be holding meetings with President Muhamamdu Buhari to end the lecturer’s strike and not with the ASUU,” POSN said.
