Ismail Abdulazeez Mantu Reporting

In a significant turn of events, the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in Ugbeze Community, Uhunwonde LGA, experienced a notable influx of former APC members into its fold today.

Led by Mr. Omoruyi Evbuomwan, the decampees arrived with high spirits, marking a significant shift in political allegiance within the community. They were warmly welcomed by prominent figures within the PDP ranks, including Dcn Festus Osaigbovo, Dr. Nosa Owen, Mr. Lucky Oseye, and other community leaders.

Another notable instance saw Dcn Festus Osagie Osaigbovo extending the PDP’s embrace to Mr. John Ojo, popularly known as Baddess, a prominent APC leader in Uhunwonde LGA. In a gathering at his Palacia home in Oza Community, Mr. Baddess expressed his support for the PDP, citing his belief in the leadership capabilities of Barr. Ighodalo and Ogie, affectionately referred to as Ai O2. He emphasized their potential to lead Edo State to greater heights.

Dcn Festus Osaigbovo, in his address, wholeheartedly welcomed the new members into the PDP fold, urging them to remain steadfast in their commitment to work towards the party’s success in the upcoming elections. He underscored the unparalleled leadership qualities possessed by the PDP candidates, Barr. Asue Ighodalo and Osarodion Ogie Esq, citing their extensive experience and popularity as catalysts for the party’s victory.

The decampees articulated their decision to switch allegiance from the APC to the PDP, citing years of dissatisfaction and lack of progress under the former. They expressed their determination to collaborate with the PDP in ensuring the victory of its candidates in the forthcoming governorship election, highlighting their shared vision for a brighter future for Edo State.

The mass defection of former APC members to the PDP in Ugbeze Community serves as a testament to the credibility and acceptability of Barr. Asue Ighodalo and Barr. Osarodion Ogie as candidates. Their blend of corporate and public service experience is seen as a promising asset that will accelerate the state’s development trajectory.
