A pressure and advocacy group within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Concerned PDP League Kano State Chapter (CPDPL Kano Chapter), has called on the indigenes and residents of Kano State to express their frustration and rejection in the 2027 elections by voting against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
The group accuses them of desecrating Kano’s traditional institutions, fostering high levels of insecurity, and causing widespread hunger in the state.
The Kano CPDPL claims that the APC-led federal government and the NNPP-led state government have created unprecedented positions of a federal emir and a state emir in Kano’s traditional history. They describe their first year in office as a monumental disaster for the state.
Addressing newsmen in the Dala local government area of Kano State, CPDPL Kano Chapter leader Comrade Aminu Ishaq Umar criticized the politicization of the Kano Emirate’s traditional stool. He urged well-meaning Kano indigenes and Nigerian citizens to pressure President Tinubu and Governor Yusuf to revert to the traditional status quo.
Comrade Umar also advised traditional rulers to resist involvement in politics to prevent further desecration of traditional institutions. He described the one-year tenures of the NNPP-led state government and the APC-led federal government as disastrous, highlighting the severe hunger and insecurity plaguing the state.
He cited the drastic increase in the price of tomatoes as an example of economic mismanagement, contrasting the prices under the previous PDP government with the current administration. Comrade Umar called on Kano residents to reject the NNPP and APC governments in the 2027 elections and vote for the PDP.
Reflecting broader sentiments within the Kano PDP, Umar’s discontent highlights issues of high insecurity and widespread hunger. He also commended acting PDP national chairman Ambassador Damagum, urging him to transition power to the younger generation and calling for unity among Kano PDP members as the upcoming congress approaches.
“I urge members of our great party in Kano State to remain united for the sake of our suffering indigenes and residents, especially as we prepare for the ward, local government area, and state congresses. Our goal is to deliver victories for the PDP from the assembly to the presidency in 2027,” Comrade Umar concluded.
