The National Working Committee, NWC, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has announced the indefinite postponement of the inauguration of the Edo State Governorship Election National Campaign Council earlier scheduled to hold on today, June 4, 2024.
This was made known to TruthLiveNews by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Debo Ologunagba, in a statement yesterday in Abuja.
He said “the postponement is due to the industrial action embarked upon by Labour Unions in the country.
Again, he said a new date for the inauguration will be communicated in due course.
The statement reads: “The PDP charges all members of the campaign council, party leaders, critical stakeholders, our teeming members and supporters in Edo State and across the nation to continue in their unrelenting efforts towards the success of our party and governorship candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, in the September 21, 2024, governorship election in Edo State.”
“The indefinite strike declared by organized labour has paralyzed government and private businesses in Abuja,” it added.
Compliance to the strike directive issued by the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and the Trade Union Congress, TUC, and their affiliates was almost 100 percent in government ministries, departments and agencies.
Many government parastatals visited by our correspondent were shut down. Financial institutions were also under locked and key.
