People’s Democratic Party, PDP, has reacted to incident portending a possible hijack of its campaign structure in Lagos, Truth Live News has learnt.
In a statement, a copy of which was sent to the online newspaper, leadership of the Lagos State chapter PDP condemned activities of some of the members that gave the impression that it wasn’t supporting Abubakar Atiku, its presidential flag bearer for the presidential election.
The party called such activity anti-party.
In a viral video seen on social media, some PDP members were seen asking voters to vote Peter Obi, Labour Party, LP, candidate for president while giving PDP Lagos governorship candidate their votes.
In the statement on Saturday signed by Hon. Hakeem Amode, Lagos State Publicity Secretary and Chairman, Media and Publicity Team for JandorFunke 2023 Campaign Council, the party, PDP, noted that its attention was drawn to the video circulating on the social media where a purported member of the PDP was soliciting votes for another party’s candidate for the President.
“We condemned this act in it’s totality and we distance our party from such because it does not reflect the position of our party and we believe it’s a malignant of our Gubernatorial Candidates Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran – Jandor efforts which is aimed towards winning Lagos State for our Presidential Candidate and our Party,” the statement said.
