In a recent telephone conversation with Truth Live News, Professor Reuben Agbons Eifediyi, the Chief Medical Director of Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital (ISTH), has communicated his heartfelt appreciation to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Tinubu GCFR, for appointing him as member to the task force dedicated to addressing the rise of Lassa Fever in Nigeria.
Professor Eifediyi, while welcoming the appointment, expressed confidence in the Task Force’s commitment to leaving no stone unturned in achieving their mission of conquering Lassa Fever in Nigeria.
This move came following President Bola A Tinubu’s decision to appoint Professor Ali Mohammad Pate, Professor R. A. EIFEDIYI (Acting CMD of ISTH), and eight other distinguished individuals as members of the Task Team for the Effective Vaccine Development for Lassa Fever in Nigeria.
The inauguration ceremony, presided over by the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Health, Daju Kachallom, stressed the qualifications and capabilities of the selected personnel for this vital assignment.
The Permanent Secretary, speaking on behalf of the Honourable Minister for Health and Social Welfare, urged the appointed members to rise to the challenge.
Truth Live News reports that notable members of the Task Force include the Directors-General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), as well as representatives from the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), the Director of Public Health at FMOH, NIMA, NIPRD, FMC OWO, and FTH ABAKALIKI.
