The Lagos State Police command has said that men of its Rapid Response Squad have arrested 31-years-old Sunday Osagie, for robbing popular female skit maker, Ekwutousi Philo.
This was disclosed in a post shared on its X (formerly Twitter) handle on Tuesday.
The post read:”Based on a viral video from a skit maker, Ekwutousi Philo, alleging that she was robbed on 20th October 2023, along Ketu-Alapere Highway by some policemen, the Decoy Team of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) has arrested Sunday Osagie, 31, who was captured in a video with the skit maker.
“Also arrested with the suspect is Ayodele Adeolu (45), while a ‘korope’ with the registration number LA 910 FST and a Toyota Yaris Verso with the registration number FST 656 JD have been recovered.
“Sunday Osagie was a Spy/Mechanic employed by the Lagos State Government in May 2011.
“He was dismissed from Lagos State Public Service and de-kitted in April 2023 for absence from duty for six months without permission, illegal duties, and extortion of money from innocent citizens.
“After facing the Personnel Management Board, Commander Rapid Response Squad, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi has directed that the suspects and the recovered vehicles be transferred to the State Command for further investigations”.
Truth Live News reports that the skit maker had shared a video of her being attacked by the said police officers over some unknown issues.
Narrating the incident via her Facebook page, Ekwitos said she had packed rightly along the road to see what was wrong. with her car before being double crossed by the assailant who claimed to be policemen and asked her to get into their van.
She filmed the incident while putting up a fight with them and demanding to know what her offence was.
She said they later robbed her and left but she was able to get the name of one of the attackers on uniform.
