The Oyo State Police Command has arrested two individuals, Ridwan Bello and Fatai Adeleke, for possessing human body parts.
According to the command’s Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, detectives found a female human torso, severed limbs, and dried bones at Bello’s residence in Ibadan.
Bello confessed to exhuming the corpse from a cemetery in Awa-Ijebu, Ogun State, and selling the body parts to ritualists.
He led detectives to the cemetery, where his claim was verified.
Further investigation led to the arrest of Adeleke, who purchased human body parts from Bello for ritual purposes.
Truth Live News reports that the case has been transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
The police are working to identify and apprehend all those involved and have urged cemetery managers to increase surveillance to prevent further incidents of corpse exhumation by ritualists.
