In a recent development on October 20, 2023, President Bola Tinubu has officially designated two individuals to serve as the new Chief Executive Officers of agencies operating under the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.
This announcement was made via a statement released by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, last Friday.
Dr. Muyi Aina has assumed the role of the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, while Dr. Kelechi Ohiri has been appointed as the Director-General and CEO of the National Health Insurance Authority.
President Bola Tinubu has expressed his expectations for these newly appointed leaders, emphasizing the significance of prioritizing quality, fairness, and accountability in delivering world-class healthcare services to all sections of Nigerian society, as conveyed by Ngelale.
Dr. Muyi Aina is a widely recognized figure in the field of public health, holding a Master’s degree in Public Health from Harvard University in the United States. He further pursued a Doctorate degree from Johns Hopkins University, USA, following his initial medical certification from the University of Ilorin in Kwara State.
Dr. Kelechi Ohiri brings his substantial expertise from his previous role as the Managing Director for Strategy at the Global Alliance for Vaccines in Geneva, Switzerland.
His educational background includes a Master’s in Public Health from Harvard University in the USA and an additional Master’s degree in Public Policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, complementing his initial medical certification from the University of Lagos.
These appointments signify the commitment of the Nigerian government to enhance the healthcare sector and ensure the delivery of high-quality health services to its citizens.
