President Bola Tinubu is holding a closed-door meeting with National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu and Chief of Defence Staff General Chris Musa at the State House in Abuja.

The meeting comes amid a deteriorating security situation in some parts of the country, with recent attacks in Plateau and Benue states resulting in significant loss of life and displacement of people.

The security situation in these states has exacerbated, with gunmen suspected to be foreign herders murdering hundreds of people and sacking many communities.

Reports indicate that over 200 people have been killed in the North-Central region in two weeks, with many more displaced.

In Plateau State, over 100 people were killed in Bokkos and Bassa local government areas between March 28 and April 14, 2025.

Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia reported 20 deaths in coordinated attacks in Logo and Ukum local government areas on April 19, 2025, and suggested that the invaders may be foreigners as they do not speak Nigerian languages.

The NSA and CDS are expected to brief the President on the security situation and efforts being made to address the crisis.
