President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has enthusiastically accepted an invitation for a crucial rendezvous with United States President Joe Biden on the sidelines of the upcoming United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) gathering.
In a statement released on Saturday, Aguri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, revealed that this meeting arrangement materialized after a productive discussion between President Tinubu and Ambassador Molly Phee, the US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs.
Highlighting his steadfast commitment to Nigeria’s progress, President Tinubu reiterated his administration’s dedication to fostering an environment conducive to the growth of private enterprises. He extended an invitation to the US government to implement innovative incentives aimed at promoting American investments in Nigeria.
In his own words, President Tinubu articulated, “Yes, the private sector will lead the way within an enabling environment we create for them. However, the U.S. Government must be innovative and systematically create incentives for U.S. industrial investment in Nigeria.
Under my leadership, Nigeria stands ready to address its specific regulatory, tax, and environmental concerns. I am determined to create prosperity for all Nigerian families.”
Ambassador Molly Phee echoed President Tinubu’s sentiments, expressing the US government’s dedication to enhancing incentives for substantial investment within Nigeria’s borders. She also conveyed President Biden’s personal request to meet with President Tinubu during the UNGA event, underscoring the high esteem in which Biden holds Tinubu’s leadership.
As the UNGA’s 78th session readies to convene on September 12, 2023, in New York, United States, President Tinubu’s upcoming interaction with President Biden holds the potential to shape bilateral relations and ignite a new era of collaboration between the two nations.
