In a major boost for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the run-up to the Edo 2024 election, renowned business magnate Julius Aluebhosele, known as the “Oba of Youth,” has pledged his support for Barr. Asue Ighodalo’s gubernatorial campaign.
Aluebhosele’s endorsement came after he was impressed by Ighodalo’s credibility and preparedness, promising to back him if he commits to fostering a business-friendly environment in Edo State.
The endorsement followed a visit by the Edo Central PDP Campaign Council, led by Rt. Hon. Chief Joe Edionwele, to Aluebhosele to seek his support. Aluebhosele praised Ighodalo’s character, capacity, and competence but issued a cautionary note, saying, “I wouldn’t support anyone again who fails to acknowledge my contributions after winning election in the past.”
Chief Edionwele, who also chairs the Board of Trustees for The Ighodalo Movement for Edo People (TIME), assured Aluebhosele that an Ighodalo-led government would prioritize entrepreneurship and economic growth. The visit underscored the PDP’s commitment to engaging key stakeholders and building partnerships with the business community.
The delegation included several notable figures such as Hon. Collins Aigbogun, Executive Chairman of Esan West LGA; Hon. Mrs. Philomena Ihenyen, Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters (Edo Central); Hon. Zuberious Eghonghon, Secretary to the Council; and Engr. Mike O. Enahoro, Head of Publicity/Media Strategy. Also present were Esan West LGA Campaign Director, Mr. Monday Abhulimen; Barr. Victor Idiakhua, Head of Contacts/Mobilizations; and Chief Tom Irehovhude, Head of Operations, among others. Former Esan West LGA bosses Hon. Mrs. Stella Okoro and Hon. Engr. Monday Abulu also attended.
The visit not only highlighted Barr. Asue Ighodalo’s efforts to forge strong alliances with the business community but also provided an opportunity for Aluebhosele to showcase his recently awarded Excellence in Community Service honor to Chief Edionwele.
