Protest Rocks Gusau Varsity Over Abduction Of Five Students

Following the kidnap of five of their colleagues, students of the Federal University Gusau in Zamfara State have stormed the streets in protest.

The aggrieved students blocked the Gusau-Kaduna road halting movement of persons and vehicles.

Truth Live News gathered that five students of the institution were abducted by bandits last Friday night, a situation which has angered the students.

Although security agents made attempts to disperse the students but couldn’t as several of the protesters sat on the middle of the road and refusing to be moved.

They called on appropriate authorities to take urgent action on the security situation in the institution.

Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Muazu Abubakar who was at the scene of the protest appealed to the students to allow motorists to pass through the road but his plea fell on deaf ears.

While addressing the protesters, Professor Muazu assured the students that institution would put in more effort at enhancing security in the institution. to ensure adequate security in the institution.

A student of the institution Musa Shehu told PUNCH that many students were kidnapped in the past but no action was taken to rescue them.

According to him, “a lot of students have been kidnapped from this institution but no positive action is taken to rescue them.

“There are some students currently in bandits camp and the authorities are not making any move to rescue them, he added
