PROTESTS: Sri Lanka Acting President Declares State Of Emergency, Curfew

Sri Lanka’s acting President, Ranil Wickremesinghe has declared a state of emergency and imposed a curfew to control a fresh wave of protests in Colombo on Wednesday, July 13th.

Wickremesinghe was sworn in as the acting president after Gotabaya Rajapaksa fled the country to the Maldives amidst economic crisis.

Wickremesinghe’s media secretary, Dinouk said, “The prime minister as acting president has declared a state of emergency (countrywide) and imposed a curfew in the western province,”

Dinouk added that the curfew comes into effect immediately.

Truthlive.net learnt that a large number of troops have been deployed around the area in order to drive the protesters away by using tear gas.
